Evidence-based planning for water infrastructure and maintenance is driving a shift toward more risk-informed approaches, while ensuring that gender equality and social inclusion are embedded across all interventions. Scoping missions to North Tarawa and Banaba in 2025 under Governance For Resilience Project mapped existing water infrastructure and established a comprehensive asset database. These missions have been critical in guiding priorities for a targeted water infrastructure maintenance program—focused on delivering reliable services and sustainable solutions for communities facing acute water access challenges.
